Free practice
My first Formula 1 event, and for once no client and no brief. Just a regular ticket, no special access, and a spot on the annual photography trip that Dutch Shooters organize together with Cameranu. The whole point was to try my hand at motorsport photography by actually doing it.
I rented a Sony 100-400mm GM for the occasion and spent the practice day walking the entire circuit, photographing every corner along the way. The weather played along: partly cloudy with a light breeze, plus about fifteen minutes of afternoon rain that sadly never got heavy enough for spray off the cars.
A full day of experimenting with panning, shutter speeds and vantage points, and a few new friends from the group by the end of it. Exactly what a practice day is for.
